Scanners - Scanner Installation - Lab 1

PART A - Hardware Installation

1. Read the manufacturer's installation instructions.
2. Connect the scanner to the computer using the cable supplied.

PART B _ Scanner Software Installation

1. Start Windows 95 and let Windows 95 recognize the new hardware at boot up.
2. When asked by Windows 95, insert the disk containing the scanner driver software.
3. Install one graphics and OCR software application. See your instructor for a copy.

PART C - Graphics Software

1. Execute a graphics program that works with the scanner. Scan, save and print one
    picture. NOTE: Save the picture as a .JPG file before printing.

PART D - Optical Character Recognition

1. Execute the OCR software program.
2. Scan one page of type written text and save as a text file.
3. Copy the text into a word processor (or scan directly into word processor if available).
    Change the fonts to your choice and 12 point size and print a copy.
